Journal of Political and Governance Studies (JPGS) is an open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing political science and governance knowledge. As the study of politics and governance continues to play a crucial role in understanding the complexities of modern societies, JPGS provides a platform for timely and original research that addresses significant theoretical and practical issues in these fields.
The journal embraces a wide-ranging scope that includes political theory and practice, covering political systems, political parties, voter behaviour, democracy, authoritarianism, political conflict, and related themes. It also focuses on governance and public administration, exploring areas like government management, public policy, bureaucracy, reform processes, transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
In addition, JPGS publishes research on public policy, including its formulation, implementation, and evaluation across various economic, social, environmental, and security sectors. The journal also welcomes comparative and regional studies examining political systems and governance across different countries, particularly national and regional contexts.
Contemporary issues in politics and governance are another key focus, encompassing digital democracy, good governance, decentralization, gender and politics, and innovations in public service delivery. Recognizing the interdisciplinary nature of political and governance studies, JPGS encourages submissions integrating insights from economics, sociology, law, and other relevant social sciences.
JPGS publishes original research articles, empirical studies, theoretical contributions, and comprehensive literature reviews that offer new perspectives and paradigms in political and governance studies. Its publications are intended to be relevant across national boundaries, addressing challenges common to many societies worldwide.
The journal’s peer review process involves scholars from diverse international backgrounds, ensuring rigorous and contextually informed evaluations. JPGS is indexed by Garuda, Google Scholar, and Dimensions, enhancing the visibility and impact of its published work. Articles are accepted and published in both Indonesian and English. The journal is issued three times annually (in February, June, and October). Submissions are open throughout the year. Authors must ensure their manuscripts align with JPGS’s focus and scope and comply with the author guidelines and manuscript template before submission.
